WWW2008 Workshops Track
Please note that due to an earlier than usual conference dates for WWW2008 (April 21-25, 2008), the deadline for submitting workshop proposals has also moved up to October 1, 2007 to ensure that each accepted workshop will have enough time to prepare and organize the event. In light of this, do plan ahead to make your proposal a successful one!
The Workshops Track Chair has set up a Workshops Blog for serving the WWW2008 workshop community by providing a more approachable and effective way to organize and coordinate the workshops.
WWW2008 Banquet to be held at the Great Hall of the People
| The Great Hall of the People has been confirmed as the site of the WWW2008 banquet, to be held on Thursday, April 24, 2008. The Great Hall of the People is one of the largest congressional buildings in the world. Built in 1959, the hall consists of three parts: a 10,000-seat auditorium in the center, a banquet hall in the north wing facing Chang'an Street, with a seating capacity of 5,000, and offices for the Standing Committee of the National Peoples' Congress of China in the south. In addition, thirty-four reception chambers are named after various provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government, plus Hong Kong and Macao. Each is different from the other in decoration and furnishings to stress their local features. Don't miss this great opportunity to come to WWW2008 and to experience a great dinner in a historic setting. |

Keynote Speaker Confirmed
| Harry Shum has been confirmed as a WWW2008 keynote speaker. Dr. Harry Shum is a Corporate Vice President at Microsoft. He oversees the research activities at Microsoft Research Asia and the lab's collaborations with universities in Asia Pacific. Recently, Dr. Shum has taken the additional responsibility of driving the long-term and short-term technology investments in search and advertising at Microsoft. See more information on Dr. Shum. |

A Message from WWW2008 PC Chairs

Host of WWW2008: Beihang University
Beihang University will be our host for WWW2008. Beihang University (formerly Beijing Institute of Aeronautics) or BUAA for short, was founded on October 25, 1952. Situated in Beijing in the center of Zhongguancun Science Park, next to China's National Olympic Center, with an area of over 250 hectares, BUAA is China's first university of aeronautical and astronautical engineering.
Since its establishment, BUAA has been one of the key universities of China and over the past 50 years BUAA has graduated over 80,000 highly qualified professionals in various disciplines for this country and established its reputation for its prestigious engineering programs.
With a total faculty and staff numbering more than 3300, including 10 academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences or the Chinese Academy of Engineering Sciences, over 1,400 full or associate professors, and 290 supervisors of doctorate programs, BUAA is home to over 26,000 students including more than 14,000 undergraduates and about 300 international students. Beihang has become one of China鈥檚 most important bases for scientific and technological innovation and quality education.
