Richard Granger
As Director General of IT for the National Health Service, Richard Granger has taken up the challenge of modernising their IT programme. Prior to taking up this post in October 2002, he was a partner at Deloitte Consulting. He has worked on a number of large-scale and national IT projects, not only in the UK but also in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Poland.
Immediately before joining the NHS, Richard led the team responsible for the project management and system integration of the London congestion-charging scheme. A graduate of Bristol University, his early career was spent primarily at Anderson Consulting, now Accenture, and in the oil industry.
Synopsis
Richard Granger will be providing an update on the deployment of information technology
at a national scale in the NHS in England. Particular topics that will be
covered include variability of performance and user organisations and
suppliers. Access/channel strategies for NHS users and members of the
public. Take-up rates for new technologies including internet adoption.
Data on number of users and transactions to date will also be provided.
