Browser and Screen Readers for Audio Visual Web Surfer: Access via non-visual modalities

Chris Lilley

Aural Cascading Style Sheets A very recently released W3C document which describes HTML Style Sheets for Aural (speech synthesis audio icons, spatial audio) presentation will be discussed. This will allow the structured information in ordinary HTML pages to be accessible to the visually impaired - even if the document author didn't provide a stylesheet. Cascading Style Sheets (already deployed in Microsoft Internet Explorer and other browsers) are used by both the document author and the document reader.
